International Support Organization in the US

09 February, 2007

The International Support Organization has been registered in the United States as an independent organization with the purpose of coordinating the efforts of Muslim individuals and organizations in support of the Prophet’s good name.

Sheikh Salman al-Oadah, who was chosen to be the organization’s General Secretary, stated that “it is an international nonprofit organization whose aim is to convey to the people of the world the message of Islam and to teach them about the character of its Prophet (peace be upon him) through effective use of the media, and we hope that everyone who can share in this effort will do so.”

The International Support Organization will endeavor to carry out the recommendations of the International Conference for the Support of the Prophet that was convened in Bahrain during the month of March 2006. The conference set forth four general objectives:

1. To teach people about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), clarifying the esteem in which he is held by Muslims, the greatness of his character, and the contributions that his noble message has made to human civilization.

2. To respond to the misconceptions and misinformation that is circulating about the Prophet (peace be upon him).

3. To develop a well-thought-out plan to effectively and productively support the Prophet (peace be upon him).

4. To promote the principle of positive dialogue among all people in an atmosphere of justice and mutual respect.

The organization and its members will at all times work within the framework of the law and according to the dictates of civilized conduct. Its members will work on a volunteer basis to fulfill the organization’s objectives, and do so in the spirit of seeking Allah’s pleasure.

International Support Organization officials intend to establish television channels in a number of major languages to present programs on various aspects of the Prophet Muhammad’s life and message. They also hope to open Internet websites and forums in various languages for the same purpose. They have also begun preparations for their first international conference which is to be held in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates.
